TOGETHER, THEY'RE known as La Diva, but Jonalyn Viray, Aicelle Santos and Maricris Garcia say they still maintain their own individuality as artists. They're going to have their first major concert at the Virgil Auditorium in Los Angeles on April 18, "A Night with La Diva", with John Lapus as their guest.

They're going to have their first major concert at the Virgil Auditorium in Los Angeles on April 18, "A Night with La Diva", with John Lapus as their guest.
"Excited kami kasi we've performed there before as part of the GMA Pinoy TV group," says Jonalyn, the first Pinoy Superstar champ. "But now, kami talaga ang magdadala ng show and we promise to make it unforgettable for our kababayans there."
Aicelle is runnerup to Gerald Santos in Pinoy Pop Superstar 2, but many writers say she should've been the winner. What can she say about this? "Siempre, I'm flattered. But I'm thankful pa rin kasi hindi naman po ako pinabayaan ng GMA and I've since recorded my own album and represented the country sa Kazakhstan International Songfest where I won sa best country song category."
Maricris is the grand winner in Pinoy Pop Superstar 3. How does she feel that their show rated higher than Pinoy Idol, which replaced it? "Siempre happy kaming tatlo kasi galing kaming Pinoy Pop Superstars," she beams. "Siguro, local viewers are not just used to the Pinoy Idol style na only text voting determines who'd be eliminated and who'd win."
As La Diva, they're seen regularly on "SOP" and all managed by GMA Artist Center. Aicelle is an alto, Jonalyn a soprano, and Maricris, mezzo soprano. Are they really good friends even off cam?
"Oh yes," says Jonalyn. "Kasi nga, lagi po kaming magkakasama. After rehearsals, usually we eat out or go to a spa."
"Close kami with the other singers sa 'SOP', like You Got Male," adds Aicelle. "One time, nag-outing kami lahat sa Tagaytay overnight for bonding."
Is there any romantic involvement between them and the guys? "None," says Maricris. "Wala kaming type sa kanila at hindi rin nila kami type."
Aicelle is majoring in psychology at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Maricris is taking up tourism in La Consolacion. Jonalyn want to pursue a music course in UP so she can teach music later. What is the best quality of each other? "I can feel na pareho sila, they'll always be there for me," says Maricris.
"Gusto ko kay Maricris, laging masaya," says Jonalyn. "Si Aicelle naman ang pinaka-Ate namin. When it comes to serious matters, you can go to her for advice."
"Very happy talaga ang personality ni Maricis. When you have problems, malilimutan mo when you're with her," says Aicelle. "Si Jonalyn, hanga ako as she's a very responsible daughter. Pareho kaming tumutulong sa families namin."
